Bengal Cat Personality
Monday, February 8, 2010 at 7:00AM I was visiting with friends last week, and they have a Bengal cat named Mazie. I was reminded what a wonderful breed these cats are. Quirky and agile the Bengal cat can be identified by the intricate leopard-print on its coat. The thing that i find most striking is that these cats are very similar to dogs. This is an entertaining and aesthetically beautiful breed, a great choice of cat breed for busy families.
Bengal Cat Personality
- Highly intelligent - these cats mimic the actions of the people and animals around them. They can teach themselves how to open doors and even windows.
- Extremely agile- They take pleasure in scaling walls and getting into high or hard to reach places with ease.
- Demanding- They are very needy and demand a high level of attention and interaction on a daily basis.
- Very talkative- These cats have a highly attuned vocal range and are capable of producing a wide and varied range of sounds to communicate.
- Playing games- Your bengal will love playing games, like a dog it enjoys playing fetch. Mazie has a toy monkey that she enjoys playing fetch with, like a dog, if you throw it she will bring it back.
- Loves water- Unlike most cats, Bengals love the water. It is not uncommon for a Bengal to play in the bathtub, bird pond or even in a water dish.
- Like a dog- This cat is very athletic, and relishes the opportunity to get out and explore. If you take the time, you can leech train this cat. The Bengal will love being taken for walks. If you have a dog you can walk them together.
The Bengal has a great personality, both intelligent and alert, and suites a human that has a busy lifestyle. They fit very well into busy and active families. They thrive in households who have other pets, including dogs, with whom they get on really well. Their coat is a close lying medium length, this means that they shed a medium amount.
I suggest that only experienced cat owners should consider getting a Bengal, they are loving and affectionate but also headstrong. This can make them difficult to housetrain and handle. For people with experience these cats will prove to be loving and dependable companions. They form strong bonds with their owners and become affectionate and faithful friends for life.
